I have long been fascinated with what happens when you subtly change a sentence.
When you rearrange the structure, replace a word or change the cadence of a paragraph – magic happens! The text begins to sing; it becomes transformed, and as it does, something happens between the reader and the writing...
Editing is a skill...it's part knowledge, part instinct, part experience. It's knowing when to use the rules, and when to throw them out.
It's about massaging the text so that it's still clearly your voice, your ideas and your message...but delivered in a way that makes the reader want to keep on reading, whether it's an advert, a website, a magazine article, or a book.
For the past 25 years I have worked as a freelance editor, researcher and writer in a wide range of fields, from IT,
telecoms, banking and finance, insurance, recruitment & executive search, office products and alternative therapies and modalities.
My major skill is translating between the various forms of English – management talk, finance speak, marketing jargon, and so on, turning it into plain English.
I specialise in turning complex ideas into easy-to-comprehend, every-day language.
I can help you with brochures, flyers, direct mail letters, web pages, video scripts, media / advertising copy, non-fiction books, e-learning material…anything that needs to be written well.
